Senior Lecturer / Lecturer – Pharmacy Practice

About the role

The School of Pharmacy at the University of the Western Cape is seeking an experienced academic pharmacist to strengthen its teaching and research activities in Pharmacy Practice. The appointment will be at senior lecturer or lecturer level, covering both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Conduct independent research and supervise postgraduate students.
• Engage with community outreach and service‑oriented projects.
• Manage academic administration and contribute to departmental governance.
• Participate actively in curriculum development, assessment and quality assurance.

Required profile

• For Senior Lecturer: BPharm and PhD in Pharmacy Practice (or closely related field) *or* MPharm/MSc in Pharmacy Practice with extensive (>5 years) practice experience.
• For Lecturer: BPharm and MSc or MPharm in Pharmacy Practice (to be completed by date of appointment).
• Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist.
• Demonstrated competence in teaching Pharmacy Practice at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Record of high‑quality, accredited publications and successful postgraduate supervision.
• Relevant experience in a South African practice setting.
