Lecturer – English – BEd Foundation Phase Teaching (Permanent)

About the role

SANTS, an accredited private higher education institution specializing in teacher training, is looking for a permanent English lecturer for its BEd Foundation Phase Teaching programme. The role combines online teaching in a distance‑education environment with regular face‑to‑face meetings at the head office in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and coordinate undergraduate English language modules, including moderation, marking, and report writing.
• Develop and review curriculum and assessments for Foundation Phase programmes.
• Facilitate learning through the institution’s Learning Management System and support students online.
• Coordinate external markers and contribute to internal and external moderation processes.
• Participate in quality assurance and research activities within the department.

Required profile

• BEd in Foundation Phase with English Home Language and First Additional Language, or equivalent qualifications (BA English, PGCE, Honours in Education).
• Minimum two years teaching experience in the Foundation Phase classroom.
• At least two years experience at a higher education institution in Foundation Phase education.
• Registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) and full computer literacy.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a Learning Management System (LMS) for online course delivery.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to work with stable internet connectivity.
