Senior Inbound Travel Consultant

About the role

Planet Africa Tours' Inbound Division provides destination management services to the Japanese market across Southern and East Africa. The Senior Inbound Travel Consultant (also referred to as Senior Reservations Consultant) will design, operate and manage bespoke FIT and group bookings, ensuring a high level of service for Japanese travelers.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and prepare travel itineraries, offering advice and recommendations to enhance guest experience.
• Manage bookings from quotation through invoicing and travel documentation.
• Source and secure alternatives when availability challenges arise.
• Convert quotes into confirmed bookings, aiming to close sales and increase margin.
• Conduct availability checks, book accommodation and services, and reconfirm all reservations.
• Provisionally book services and manage release dates.
• Compile documentation for tour guides, tour leaders, rooming lists and invoices.
• Perform quality control on all bookings and resolve account queries within set deadlines.
• Provide professional, solution‑focused communication to customers.
• Assist in training, mentoring or guiding junior team members as needed.

Required profile

• Grade 12 essential; tertiary qualification in Travel and Tourism preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of inbound reservations experience, preferably at a senior level.
• Proven ability to design and operate bespoke itineraries for groups and individual travelers.
• Experience with the Japanese market is highly beneficial.
• Strong knowledge of travel products, destinations and logistics in Southern and East Africa.
• Professional, calm and solutions‑driven attitude; able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
