Senior External Sales Representative

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Senior External Sales Representative to drive growth of our ingredient portfolio within the food manufacturing and animal feed sectors. Based in Durban, you will manage both existing and new customers, delivering tailored solutions and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and expand the customer base across the assigned territory.
• Increase product basket penetration with existing clients.
• Identify client needs and align them with the company’s product offering.
• Negotiate and manage supply contracts.
• Achieve and exceed sales targets and budgets.
• Provide exceptional customer service and handle all enquiries.
• Conduct cold‑calling and prospecting activities.
• Prepare detailed reports on customer usage, history and requirements.
• Maintain accurate records in the ERP system.

Required profile

• Matric / Senior Certificate with a marketing or related qualification.
• Minimum 3 years B2B sales experience, preferably 3‑5 years in food manufacturing or animal feed.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Strong negotiation, conflict management and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Power BI for data visualisation.
• Working knowledge of an ERP system for order and contract management.
