Senior Analyst Developer – Java Payments

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Analyst Developer to join a large‑scale Payment Ecosystem Modernisation Programme in Pretoria. The role involves developing and supporting enterprise‑grade payment systems that modernise the national Real‑Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) platform and drive the future of digital payments.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into functional and technical solutions.
• Design scalable, secure, and maintainable enterprise applications aligned with architectural standards.
• Develop, enhance, test, and maintain enterprise payment solutions using Java and related technologies.
• Build and support IBM MQ integrations, REST APIs, microservices, and web applications.
• Produce high‑quality technical designs, functional specifications, deployment documentation, and release notes.
• Participate in system, integration, and user acceptance testing, resolving defects and ensuring solution quality.
• Provide second‑ and third‑level production support, incident resolution, preventative maintenance, and ongoing enhancements.
• Support change management, release management, governance, and regulatory compliance processes.
• Monitor application health, perform system maintenance, and contribute to business continuity initiatives.
• Maintain technical documentation, user guides, operational manuals, and knowledge‑sharing materials.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, testers, and business stakeholders throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an enterprise developer with a strong background in Java and financial systems.
• Hands‑on experience across the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Ability to work on complex, high‑availability transaction platforms and deliver secure, high‑performing payment solutions.
