Engineering Lead

About the role

A leading retailer based in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join a dynamic IT division. You will guide a team of engineers, maintain and enhance platforms, and ensure seamless customer experiences across all touch points.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering collaboration, innovation and continuous learning.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define and execute the technical roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Design, develop and optimise platforms for scalability, reliability and security.
• Provide technical guidance to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Monitor platform performance metrics and identify optimisation opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Proven experience in software development and technical leadership, delivering complex projects.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire teams.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns and best practices.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple projects.
