Senior Accountant

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced, hands‑on Senior Accountant to own financial reporting, compliance and management accounting for South African entities, with future responsibility for consolidating results from Mauritius and China. This individual contributor role demands personal accountability for all sign‑offs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage month‑end and year‑end close, including full balance‑sheet reconciliation.
• Review payroll data for accuracy before sign‑off.
• Prepare management accounts, dashboards and board‑level reporting packs.
• Oversee debtors/creditors processing performed by others.
• Support audit readiness and liaise with external auditors.
• Review and consolidate financial results from new Mauritius and China entities as they become operational.

Required profile

• CA(SA) with 3+ years post‑articles experience in an operational finance role, OR a qualified accountant with 10+ years hands‑on experience, completed articles, BCom Accounting and SAICA membership.
• Proven ownership of a full finance function and strong balance‑sheet reconciliation discipline.
• Solid working knowledge of IFRS for SMEs and multi‑entity/consolidation exposure.
• Working knowledge of South African statutory compliance (Companies Act, CIPC, income tax, VAT).
• Hands‑on ERP experience (SYSPRO or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
• Practical experience with AI‑enabled accounting/reporting tools and a willingness to adopt new technology.
