Senior Accountant – Cape Town

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Cape Town Head Office. You will lead the preparation of financial statements, manage month‑end processes and provide insightful analysis to support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage general ledger activities and ensure accurate account reconciliations.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
• Assist with cash‑flow monitoring, budgeting and financial forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and internal controls.
• Support external and internal audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
• Analyse financial data and provide insights for management decision‑making.
• Supervise junior accounting staff and provide guidance.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and financial efficiency.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll reconciliations when required.
• Ensure timely submission of statutory returns and regulatory reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA or SAIPA (advantageous).
• 5–7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Sage and Accountability.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial modelling.
• Experience with accounting software.
• Knowledge of audit and tax compliance.
