Semi-Skilled Handyman – KZN

About the role

We are looking for an operational and reliable Semi‑Skilled Handyman to be based in KwaZulu‑Natal. The role supports our Skilled Handymen and Facilities team by carrying out preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance across all company sites, ensuring properties remain safe, functional and well‑maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out basic building repairs, routine inspections and touch‑up tasks such as painting, wall patching, carpentry and minor plumbing repairs (leak fixing, drain unblocking).
• Assist with electrical maintenance, conduit work and replacement of fittings under supervision, supporting mortuaries, branch offices, fleet facilities and warehouses.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance stores and workshops; load, unload and transport tools, materials and equipment between sites.
• Follow strict Occupational Health and Safety procedures, wear prescribed PPE, report unsafe conditions and respond to after‑hours emergency call‑outs.
• Support administration by completing job cards, tracking material stock levels and assisting with annual asset verification.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• At least 2 years of experience in building maintenance or general handyman work, with proven safe use of hand and power tools.
• Basic understanding of building, electrical and plumbing maintenance and safe working practices.
• Willingness to travel extensively between company sites and respond to urgent breakdowns.
• An NQF Level 2–4 qualification in Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry or Building Maintenance (advantage).
• A valid driver’s licence (advantage).
