Security Engineer – AIDR

About the role

The Security Engineer – AI Detection & Response (AIDR) will protect Absa’s enterprise AI, ML, LLM, and related platforms. You will combine security engineering, architecture, detection, threat hunting, offensive security, and incident response to safeguard AI systems while enabling secure innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Design secure AI/ML architectures and define AI security standards.
• Perform AI threat‑modeling, security reviews, and risk assessments across AI lifecycles.
• Develop AI‑specific detection use cases, engineer detections in SIEM/XDR/EDR, and investigate AI‑related incidents.
• Create AI incident‑response playbooks and conduct AI‑focused threat‑hunting.
• Implement security controls for Model Context Protocol (MCP) ecosystems, AI gateways, and AI agents.
• Inspect and filter AI traffic, enforce prompt inspection, content moderation, DLP, access governance, and rate‑limiting.

Required profile

• Proven experience securing AI/ML platforms in cloud, hybrid or on‑prem environments.
• Strong knowledge of security architecture, threat modeling, and incident response.
• Ability to design and enforce AI security controls throughout the AI lifecycle.
