IT Security Specialist – Firewall (Enterprise)

About the role

FNB is looking for an experienced Firewall Security Specialist to join its Infrastructure and Cybersecurity team. You will be responsible for administering, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise firewall platforms that protect critical banking systems and services.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise firewalls, including ACLs, NAT, VPNs, and security zones.
• Apply security policies, perform software upgrades, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
• Monitor firewall performance, availability, and security events; investigate incidents and outages.
• Review and implement approved firewall rule requests in line with security standards.
• Conduct health checks, capacity planning, and lifecycle management of firewall assets.
• Collaborate with Cyber Security, Network Engineering, Risk, and Application teams on project implementations.
• Participate in after‑hours maintenance windows and change implementations.
• Maintain documentation, network diagrams, and configuration records to meet audit and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in IT, Network Engineering, Cyber Security or related field.
• 3–5+ years of hands‑on firewall administration in a large corporate environment.
• Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA Security, CCNP Security, Cisco Secure Firewall Certification; ITIL Foundation is a plus.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, security architectures, and change‑management processes.
