Resident Engineer

About the role

The Resident Engineer acts as the Employer’s Agent and Representative on site, overseeing construction supervision in line with the General Conditions of Contract. Reporting to the Project Manager and Contracts Engineer, the role ensures that works are delivered to specification, on schedule and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all Employer’s Agent Representative construction supervision activities on site.
• Liaise with design engineers and managers to review construction drawings and design requirements.
• Ensure quality assurance and compliance with project specifications.
• Resolve contractor disputes, compile payment certificates and monitor progress against programme.
• Coordinate correspondence, sub‑consultants and contract administration duties.
• Prepare monthly cash‑flow, progress reports and payment certificates based on daily measurements.
• Lead site and technical meetings, record minutes and follow‑up actions.
• Monitor health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Maintain daily construction diary, as‑built drawings and testing records in the project CDE.
• Mentor junior site staff as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a civil or construction engineer in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of GCC contracts and employer‑agent responsibilities.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and resolve contractual issues.
• Excellent organisational and documentation skills.
