Senior Civil Engineer

About the role

Arup is expanding its digitally enabled civil engineering capability across South Africa. The Senior Civil Engineer will join multidisciplinary teams in Cape Town, Durban or Johannesburg, contributing to resilient infrastructure projects that address rapid urbanisation and climate challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design packages and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
• Develop and deliver BIM‑enabled models, primarily using Civil 3D.
• Provide technical judgement on complex engineering problems, ensuring compliance with local design codes.
• Support knowledge transfer and skills development across regional offices.
• Participate in work‑winning activities and client engagements.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Approximately eight years of consulting engineering design experience or an equivalent mix of qualifications and demonstrated competence.
• Proven ability to resolve complex engineering challenges.

Required skills

• Civil 3D.
• BIM‑enabled delivery.
• Proficiency with civil engineering design software and relevant design codes.
