Industrial Fire Systems Design Engineer

About the role

Loki Fire is seeking a hands‑on Industrial Fire Systems Design Engineer to join its remote‑first African team. Working under the Lead Fire Engineer and a registered Professional Engineer, you will deliver fire‑protection designs for mining, energy, oil & gas and other industrial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop fire‑protection philosophies, design criteria and technical reports.
• Conduct fire‑risk reviews and translate findings into practical engineering solutions.
• Calculate fire‑water demand, size tanks, pumps, ring mains, hydrants and hose reels.
• Design sprinkler, deluge, water‑spray, foam and specialist suppression systems.
• Define fire detection, alarm and cause‑and‑effect requirements in coordination with C&I specialists.
• Prepare and review P&IDs, general arrangements, layouts, schematics and system interfaces.
• Produce equipment datasheets, technical specifications, bills of quantities and material take‑offs.
• Coordinate fire systems with piping, structural, mechanical, electrical, C&I and plant‑layout disciplines.
• Review 3D models for clashes, access, maintenance and constructability.
• Evaluate vendor submissions, support procurement, FAT, SAT, construction, commissioning and close‑out.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in fire protection, mechanical or related discipline.
• Ability to produce calculations, designs and reports to a standard suitable for professional certification.
• Strong attention to detail and ownership of deadlines.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time, including international sites.
