Receiving Clerk

About the role

The Receiving Clerk will manage inbound deliveries for a retail supplier of building materials, hardware and construction supplies in Benoni. You will be responsible for accurately receiving, verifying and storing stock while supporting overall inventory control. The role works closely with suppliers, warehouse staff and store management to ensure smooth operations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and verify deliveries against purchase orders and supplier invoices.
• Inspect incoming stock for damages, shortages or discrepancies.
• Capture and process goods received in the inventory system.
• Ensure correct labeling, storage and distribution of stock.
• Maintain organized receiving and warehouse areas.
• Coordinate with suppliers, warehouse staff and store management regarding stock issues.
• Conduct stock counts and assist with inventory control processes.
• Adhere to health, safety and company procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• 2–3 years experience as a Receiving Clerk in the retail building‑materials, hardware or construction‑supplies sector.
• Strong knowledge of receiving procedures, stock control and inventory management.
• Experience working with ERP or stock‑management systems.
• Good understanding of building‑materials and hardware product categories.
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
• Willingness to work alternative weekends.
