R&D Technologist – Wet Savoury (Food Manufacturing)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced R&D Technologist to lead wet savoury product development for a food manufacturing client. The role is based in a remote area of the Western Cape, approximately 200 km from Cape Town, and involves creating and maintaining recipes that can be produced at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new wet savoury products from brief to final factory‑ready recipe.
• Prepare costings, Bill of Materials and assess raw material and packaging costs.
• Conduct kitchen trials, produce samples for customers, and ensure product specifications meet factory standards.
• Source and evaluate new raw and packaging materials.
• Perform nutritional analysis of recipes.
• Coordinate Kosher and Halal certifications as required.
• Review artwork for regulatory and customer compliance.

Required profile

• BSc in Food Science or ND in Food Technology.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a similar R&D role.
• Experience with FSSC 22000 standards.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

What we offer
