Quality Auditor - Inventory and Warehouse Audits

About the role

Caterpillar's PSLD, which handles worldwide distribution of Cat aftermarket parts, integrated logistics, segment procurement and the design and manufacture of wear and maintenance components, is looking for an experienced Quality Auditor for its Quality Department. The role covers a wide range of quality and inventory audits across the facility to ensure inventory accuracy, operational compliance and adherence to quality standards. It suits a warehousing professional with strong inventory control knowledge. The position is onsite, five days a week, and requires willingness to work rotational shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform Record Accuracy Management (RAM) audits across warehouse locations, bins, racks and yard areas.
• Conduct Putaway, Setup, Location and Kill audits to verify inventory accuracy and system integrity.
• Complete daily and nightly Physical Inventory (PI) checks and cycle count validations.
• Run Statistical Test Counts (STC) and support verification recount activities.
• Audit outbound shipping and stage lanes, and execute OTC dealer audits and scrap audits.
• Carry out Bureau of Veritas inspection audits and other compliance assessments, and audit high-value inventory areas such as lock-up facilities and engine storage.
• Support stock takes, indirect material audits, 5S, Lean, Standard Work and Continuous Improvement audits, and maintain audit records and document archives.
• Investigate discrepancies, recommend corrective actions, attend daily quality reviews and take part in facility committees and improvement projects.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 minimum qualification.
• At least 10 years of warehousing, logistics or distribution centre experience.
• Valid MHE licenses (forklift, reach truck and/or order picker).
• Good written and spoken English.
• Ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy.
• Willingness to work rotational shifts (first, second and third shifts); third shift is 23:30 to 08:00, with a permanent night-shift option.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of inventory control and warehouse processes.
• Preferred: previous quality auditing experience, exposure to SAP EWM or warehouse management systems, knowledge of 5S, Lean, Continuous Improvement or quality management systems.
