Quality Assurance Manager – Food Safety (CR780)

About the role

Our client, a South African dairy manufacturer in Durbanville, is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead the Food Safety Management System and ensure the production of safe, high-quality dairy products. The role involves overseeing all QA/QC activities, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) in line with ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000.
• Lead the Food Safety Team, facilitate HACCP studies, and keep hazard analyses, PRPs, OPRPs and CCPs up to date.
• Plan, chair and record Food Safety Team meetings and communicate issues to senior management.
• Coordinate internal and external food safety audits, including ZA audits, and manage supplier quality assurance.
• Investigate food safety incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Prepare Certificates of Analysis for finished products and maintain all related documentation.
• Supervise QA/QC and sanitation personnel, and deliver training on GMP, HACCP and allergen management.
• Promote a strong food‑safety culture and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Required profile

• BSc degree in Food Science or a related field.
• Proven experience in food‑safety management within a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 22000, FSSC 22000 and HACCP principles.
