Production Manager – Poultry

About the role

Pedros is looking for an experienced Production Manager to oversee poultry production operations at its Distribution Centre in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. The role covers the end-to-end production process, ensuring targets are met safely, efficiently and in line with food safety, quality, yield and cost standards. It is a hands-on operational leadership position for someone with strong poultry or food production experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement production plans based on sales forecasts and distribution needs.
• Manage daily production so targets, volumes and deadlines are met.
• Monitor yields, wastage and variances and act on them; run quality control checks.
• Manage scheduling, stock levels and raw material needs, coordinating with suppliers and internal departments.
• Lead daily production meetings and supervise, coach and develop production staff.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, food safety and quality requirements, and carry out routine safety checks.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs, track performance and prepare production reports.
• Manage operational expenses within budget and work with Distribution Centre management.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12.
• Tertiary qualification in Production, Operations, Food Technology, Manufacturing or a related field.
• Proven production management experience in poultry, food manufacturing, food processing or a similar FMCG environment.
• Leadership and people-management experience, with experience managing targets, quality and performance.
• Willingness to work extended hours and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
