Field Service Engineer / Technician - Industrial Electronics

About the role

Meka Industrial Electronic Solution (MekaIES) is looking for a qualified Field Service Engineer / Technician for its formal-qualification pathway. The role suits candidates who combine recognised engineering or technical education with substantial hands-on experience in industrial electronics, UPS systems, automation and client-site service delivery. It is based in Cape Town, Western Cape, reporting to the Technical Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain UPS systems (1 kVA to 500 kVA, transformerless and transformer-based)
• Troubleshoot and repair variable speed drives, servo drives, SMPS units, instrumentation and industrial electronic equipment
• Perform advanced fault diagnosis and support integration with building-management and automation systems
• Carry out battery installations, replacements and lithium-battery integration
• Provide preventive and predictive maintenance across client sites
• Support data-centre operations and electrical-environment analysis
• Carry out panel wiring, upgrades and instrumentation repairs (HMI, touch screens, controllers)
• Generate technical reports, quotations and documentation for clients
• Liaise with customers and take part in rotational standby duties

Required profile

• National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation or a recognised equivalent; N6 or equivalent technical pathway may be considered
• At least 5 years of practical experience in industrial electronics and field service
• Proven track record with UPS systems, VFDs, servo drives and automation equipment
• Valid Code B driver's licence and willingness to travel locally and, where required, internationally

Required skills

• Industrial electronics repair, schematic interpretation and component-level troubleshooting
• Problem-solving, analytical and customer-liaison skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple site assignments
• Knowledge of safety standards and compliance practices
