Engineering and Maintenance Manager

About the role

A well-established specialist manufacturer in Cape Town is looking for an Engineering and Maintenance Manager to report to the Operations Executive. The role leads a Process Engineer, a Maintenance Supervisor and a Facilities Coordinator, and drives the site's automation roadmap. The employer describes the position as running engineering, maintenance and facilities as one function.

Key responsibilities

• Run preventive and condition-based maintenance across plant, utilities and buildings
• Carry out root cause analysis and reduce downtime
• Lead capital projects from business case to handover
• Drive the site's Industry 4.0 and automation roadmap

Required profile

• BSc degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Operate at GMR2.1 level
• 7+ years in manufacturing, including 3+ years leading engineering teams
• Batch process manufacturing experience preferred
• Focus on fixing root causes, not just breakdowns
• Planning shutdowns with Production rather than around them

Required skills

• CMMS, ERP, CAD and PLC systems
• OHS Act, GMR, PER, EIR and HCA regulations
• Budget, contractor and SLA management
