Portfolio Manager - Diversified

About the role

Standard Bank Group is looking for a Portfolio Manager for its diversified business in Johannesburg. The portfolio manager is accountable for a portfolio of high-value, sophisticated clients, delivering high-touch client service and shaping the investment process. The role works closely with wealth managers and advisors to turn investment direction, research views and market signals into multi-manager model portfolios that stay aligned to client objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Build collaborative, deep relationships with wealth managers and advisors.
• Convert investment direction, research views and market signals into multi-manager model portfolios, blending manager and implementation decisions.
• Generate informed portfolio recommendations and challenge emerging risks and opportunities.
• Strengthen risk-adjusted performance through disciplined analysis, review and execution within a governed framework.

Required profile

• First degree in Business, Commerce, Finance and Accounting, Actuarial Science or related field.
• Postgraduate degree in the same fields.
• Chartered Accountant (CA) and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.
• 8-10 years of experience constructing and managing multi-asset or multi-manager portfolios, including asset allocation, manager selection, exposure management and rebalancing.
• 7-8 years of experience interpreting research outputs, market data and portfolio analytics to generate recommendations and support portfolio positioning.
• 8-10 years of experience presenting portfolio rationale to investment, research and stakeholder groups and influencing decisions.
