PLC & SCADA Programmer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced PLC & SCADA Programmer to join our engineering team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will take projects from concept through to commissioning, developing control code, configuring hardware and delivering on‑site solutions for our clients in the food & beverage, automotive and manufacturing sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop PLC programs from scratch using Siemens STEP 7 Classic, TIA Portal and Allen‑Bradley Studio 5000.
• Design and maintain HMI/SCADA applications with Siemens WinCC (Comfort, Professional, Unified) and Rockwell FactoryTalk View.
• Configure, test and commission Siemens S7‑300/S7‑1500 and Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix controllers.
• Interpret, produce and annotate electrical schematics using EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Integrate variable speed drives, servo systems, remote I/O and a range of industrial sensors.
• Set up and troubleshoot industrial networks such as Profinet, Profibus DP and EtherNet/IP.
• Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), perform loop checks, I/O testing and on‑site fault finding.
• Support project activities including hardware selection, Bill of Materials generation, control panel design and documentation.

Required profile

• Proven experience programming Siemens and Allen‑Bradley PLCs on new projects.
• Strong background in industrial electrical engineering and ability to read and create electrical drawings.
• Hands‑on commissioning experience with network diagnostics and on‑site troubleshooting.
• Valid South African driver’s licence, reliable transport and willingness to travel locally and internationally.
• South African residency.
• National Diploma, BTech or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control, Automation or Instrumentation Engineering.
