PLC and VSD Sales Representative

About the role

A Technical Placements client, an industrial automation company based in the Pinetown area of KwaZulu-Natal, is looking for a Technical Sales Representative. The role focuses on growing turnover of VSD and PLC sales, finding new customers, maintaining existing relationships and acting as a technical contact for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Grow the current turnover of VSD and PLC sales and identify new opportunities and customers in the market.
• Maintain and grow relationships with existing VSD and PLC customers.
• Act as a contact point for customers needing technical assistance on VSD and PLC products.
• Help customers understand why your brand's VSDs and PLCs are better than others.
• Make sales calls with other sales representatives or to direct accounts independently to meet sales goals.
• Develop business for variable frequency drives and PLCs through prospecting and marketing activities.
• Follow up on sent quotes and give customer feedback to management when needed.
• Grow the pipeline in line with the required target.
• Adhere strictly to safety instructions, work independently and be detail oriented.
• Travel locally and submit monthly sales reports on progress and targets.

Required profile

• Electrical sales experience.
• Own vehicle.
• Experience with VSDs, PLCs and industrial automation is an added advantage.
• Sales qualifications or courses are advantageous.

Required skills

• Knowledge of a CRM system and process.
• Knowledge of MS Windows, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel.
• Superior oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of Modbus and communication protocols.
• Basic knowledge of electrical requirements for VSD/VFDs.
