Plant Director – Transit Business

About the role

The Plant Director for the Transit business will lead the site’s operational, financial and strategic performance. You will own the P&L, drive continuous improvement and ensure product quality, operational excellence and customer satisfaction across manufacturing, supply chain, engineering and support functions.

Key responsibilities

• Execute business strategies to meet annual targets for sales, EBIT, cash‑flow, on‑time delivery and quality.
• Lead cross‑functional teams across Commercial, Engineering, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Operations and Support.
• Oversee major projects such as the PRASA brake system program, managing customer and supplier relationships.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (BBBEE, Localization, NIPP) and corporate standards (Quality, EHS, Cybersecurity, RGPD, IRIS).
• Develop and sustain a high‑performance culture, focusing on talent development, retention and constructive union engagement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
• Diploma or certificate in Project Management.
• 10+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing, with at least 8 years in operations management.
• Proven P&L management across manufacturing, supply chain, sourcing and engineering.
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical and financial management abilities.
