Pharmacist – Fixed-Term Contract (5‑month)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Pharmacist on a 5‑month fixed‑term contract to join the pharmacy team at Life St. George’s Hospital in Gqeberha. The position is hourly paid with monthly remuneration and may include after‑hours on‑call duties.

Key responsibilities

• Report 100 % of medication incidents and pharmacy alerts, develop remedial actions and conduct quarterly trend analysis.
• Participate in implementation and compliance with Life Healthcare quality management systems and adhere to SAPC, DOH and LHC legal and professional standards.
• Deliver customer service in theatres and wards, and implement pharmacy quality and satisfaction initiatives.
• Contribute to achieving the hospital’s pharmacy budget and financial targets.
• Manage product costs, supporting cost‑of‑sales of pharmaceuticals in line with revenue and budget.
• Build effective working relationships with doctors and clinical staff.
• Achieve stock targets, optimise system utilisation and support asset management.

Required profile

• Pharmacy degree (Pharm, Dip.Pharm or B.Sc Pharm) with current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council.
• At least 1 year of experience in a private hospital pharmacy.
• Relevant clinical knowledge to meet critical outputs.
• Reliable transport arrangements.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Knowledge of SAP software (advantageous).
• Familiarity with the Impilo pharmacy management system (advantageous).
