Passenger Vehicle Dealership Accountant

About the role

The client, a leading passenger vehicle dealership in Gauteng, is seeking an experienced accountant to manage its financial operations. You will ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and provide insights that drive profitability across vehicle sales, parts, and service departments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and submit required statements to manufacturers and the group head office.
• Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting, monitor variances and advise management on corrective actions.
• Oversee vehicle stock accounting, floor‑plan reconciliations, sales reconciliations and audit deal files.
• Manage cash‑flow, banking relationships, debtor/creditor balances and maintain fixed‑asset registers.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, VAT, PAYE and other statutory obligations; coordinate internal and external audits.
• Support payroll processing, commission calculations and related financial reporting.
• Liaise with dealership management, auditors, financial institutions, manufacturers and suppliers to provide financial guidance.

Required profile

• BCom degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, preferably with automotive experience.
• Completed Articles or equivalent qualification is advantageous.
• Proven experience in dealership or similar high‑volume accounting environment.
