Product Control Specialist – Global Markets Africa

About the role

This position offers a skilled finance professional the chance to join a leading African financial services group, focusing on control and reporting for Global Markets activities across Africa. Based in Johannesburg, the role ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial data for the business unit.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily and monthly controls over the Balance Sheet and Income Statement for Global Markets.
• Standardise and govern control processes across the region.
• Oversee accurate reporting and attribution of Global Markets revenues.
• Drive substantiation of balance‑sheet accounts with supporting documentation.
• Provide month‑end reporting support to ensure timely financial statements.
• Develop and maintain understanding of valuation and risk management mechanics.
• Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Front Office and Operations stakeholders.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance or Accounting; Chartered Accountant (SA) preferred.
• 3–7 years of relevant experience, ideally in product control, auditing or investment banking.
• 3–4 years specific experience in Product Control, Auditing or Credit Derivatives.
• Strong grasp of information flows between front‑office trading systems and the general ledger.
• Knowledge of banking principles, preferably investment banking.
