Part-Time Lecturer - Language Modules (Foundation Unit)

About the role

The 1st Year and Foundation Unit within the Faculty of ICT at Tshwane University of Technology needs 8 part-time lecturers for the period January to December 2027 at the Soshanguve South Campus. They will deliver lecturing services in Language Modules.

Key responsibilities

• Present lectures and assess students in various subjects during day classes.
• Handle administrative teaching and learning tasks such as setting, marking and recording assessment results.
• Compile and maintain study guides, examination question papers, memoranda and subject portfolio files.
• Upload module content to the university's learning management system.
• Take part in departmental activities and attend departmental and subject meetings when invited.
• Complete a Teaching for Learning / TUT Licence to Teach programme and attend training on the TUT learning management system.
• Consult with students and carry out any other duty assigned by the Head of Department, Section Head or Subject Coordinator.

Required profile

• NQF Level 9 Master's degree in Language Practice, Linguistics, Communication Science or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• 3 years of relevant teaching experience in Language Practice, Linguistics or Communication Science, or 3 years of relevant industry experience; foundation-level teaching experience is strongly recommended.
• An optimistic, innovative attitude, integrity, respect and accountability, and the ability to collaborate with national and international colleagues.
