Part-Time Lecturer - Computational Mathematics

About the role

The ICT 1st Year and Foundation Unit at the Soshanguve South Campus of Tshwane University of Technology needs eight part-time lecturers for the full year 2027 to deliver Computational Mathematics. Applicants must submit a completed standardised application form, certified copies of their qualifications and an identity document; candidates may also face psychometric testing.

Key responsibilities

• Provide remedial lecturing and tutoring for the extended Computational Mathematics curriculum in line with the faculty's teaching strategy.
• Carry out other lecturing duties such as invigilating, marking scripts, processing marks on the learning management system, assessing and moderating, developing online and video materials.
• Attend unit activities including meetings, mentorship, tutorship, panel interviews, workshops and events.
• Upload module content to myTUTor/Brightspace and attend training on the TUT Learning Management System.
• Perform any other duty assigned by the Head of Department, Section Head or Module Coordinator.

Required profile

• NQF Level 9 Master's degree in Mathematics at second-year undergraduate level, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• A teaching qualification is strongly recommended.
• Three years of lecturing experience in Computational Mathematics or three years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience in foundation-level teaching is strongly recommended.
