About the role

An established and professional optometric practice in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, is looking for a reliable, motivated and experienced Optical Receptionist. The role suits someone who takes pride in their work, has excellent patient-service skills and understands that punctuality, reliability and consistent attendance are essential in a busy healthcare environment. Key responsibilities

• Welcome and assist patients in a professional and friendly manner
• Manage reception and incoming telephone calls
• Book and confirm patient appointments
• Handle patient administration and maintain accurate records
• Process medical aid information and benefits
• Handle patient enquiries and queries
• Process payments and carry out basic administrative duties
• Assist with optical orders and collections, follow up on outstanding matters and help with recalls and patient communication
• Maintain an organised and professional reception area and work efficiently as part of a team

Required profile

• Previous optical, medical or healthcare reception experience is advantageous
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professional telephone manner and good computer literacy
• Strong administrative and organisational abilities, attention to detail and ability to multitask in a busy practice
• Professional appearance and attitude, able to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent attendance and punctuality are essential; reliable transport is advantageous
