Ophthalmic Nurse – Permanent Position

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Nurse to join a specialised private eye clinic in Roodepoort. This permanent, onsite role involves supporting ophthalmic surgeries and delivering high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced theatre environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in ophthalmic surgeries, maintaining a sterile field and handling surgical instruments.
• Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative care to eye patients.
• Scrub for ophthalmic procedures and support other surgical disciplines as needed.
• Monitor patients under local, regional, or general anaesthesia.
• Maintain accurate medical records in line with hospital policies.
• Adhere to infection control, health and safety standards at all times.

Required profile

• Matric qualification.
• Registered Nurse (RN) with valid South African Nursing Council registration.
• Over 5 years of nursing experience, including theatre exposure.
• Previous experience in ophthalmology or related fields is preferred.
• Scrubbing experience in ophthalmic surgeries is highly advantageous.
