Operations Manager – Mechanical Engineer (Food Manufacturing)

About the role

We are seeking an Operations Manager who is a qualified Mechanical Engineer to lead a grain processing plant in the North West region. The role involves overseeing daily production, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and driving operational efficiency in a food manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily production, technical processes, and staff performance within the grain processing factory.
• Optimize production efficiency and meet volume targets.
• Enforce HACCP, GMP, and ISO standards for quality and safety.
• Manage raw material inventory, supplier relationships, and warehouse logistics.
• Control site P&L, operational budgets, and cost‑saving initiatives.
• Recruit, train, and supervise multidisciplinary plant workers and shift supervisors.

Required profile

• Qualified Mechanical Engineer.
• 5–12 years of plant or manufacturing management experience in food processing or FMCG.
• Proficiency in English and Afrikaans (read, write, speak).
• Willingness to relocate and attend an interview.
