Millwright Technician – Flexible Packaging

About the role

Our client is looking for a skilled Millwright Technician to join their maintenance team in the flexible packaging industry. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, fault‑finding and repairing manufacturing equipment, ensuring high reliability and minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults.
• Maintain and service blown film extrusion lines and bag‑making machines.
• Install, commission and optimise new machinery and production equipment.
• Carry out routine inspections and machine changeovers.
• Troubleshoot PLC‑controlled machinery and complete maintenance reports, job cards and equipment history records.
• Liaise with production personnel to minimise downtime and improve efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Trade‑tested Millwright qualification (essential).
• 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in flexible packaging, plastics or blown film manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding ability.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
