Microbiology Laboratory Manager – Steriles & Environmental Monitoring

About the role

The global healthcare company seeks a Microbiology Laboratory Manager to oversee all microbiology activities in both the laboratory and the compounding facility. You will develop monitoring systems for classified areas, ensure timely release of products, and lead a team to achieve high performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage routine microbiology testing and communicate results promptly to avoid product release delays.
• Implement and maintain consumable ordering, SOPs, and laboratory systems.
• Identify new requirements, propose corrective actions, and ensure CAPA, events, and change controls are closed on time.
• Develop and run an environmental monitoring program for classified areas, report trends, and implement corrective actions.
• Assist other departments with continuous‑improvement projects that involve microbiology.
• Oversee pest‑control regime for the facility.
• Draft and update job descriptions, performance contracts, and training plans for staff.
• Conduct performance reviews, manage recruitment, leave, and disciplinary actions.
• Set and monitor annual OPEX and CAPEX budgets, forecast spending, and make quarterly adjustments.
• Release critical consumables and ensure quality control compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a microbiology laboratory or comparable environment.
• Strong knowledge of CAPA, change control, and GMP requirements.
• Ability to develop and maintain environmental monitoring and contamination‑control strategies.
• Experience in staff leadership, performance management, and recruitment.
• Budget planning and financial monitoring skills.
