Medical Practice Assistant – Obstetrics & Gynaecology (Bethlehem)

About the role

A specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology practice in Bethlehem is seeking a Medical Practice Assistant to provide administrative and operational support. The successful candidate will ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations while delivering a professional and compassionate patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage front‑desk and patient reception duties, including answering calls, emails and enquiries.
• Coordinate appointments and diary management for the practice.
• Maintain and update patient records accurately and prepare files for consultations.
• Process patient payments, issue receipts and handle billing tasks.
• Liaise with patients, healthcare providers and service suppliers.
• Support the doctor with day‑to‑day administrative tasks and practice workflow management.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient and practice information.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
• Previous experience in a medical or administrative office is advantageous.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate in Afrikaans and Sesotho is a plus.
• Computer literacy and ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Professional, compassionate approach with a strong work ethic.
• Reliable, proactive, detail‑oriented and able to work under pressure.
