Mechanical Artisan – Maintenance & Production Support

About the role

The Mechanical Artisan ensures that the plant remains operational by performing preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and supporting production start‑up and shut‑down activities. The role works closely with the maintenance manager, production teams, and quality control personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Repair mechanical breakdowns on production line equipment and replace suspect components.
• Attend to general electrical and mechanical issues across the production area, warehouse, office block and external premises.
• Execute daily preventative maintenance checks, lubrication, and inspections on KHS, Vermercati, Cordial lines, sugar/syrup rooms, and compressed‑air systems.
• Monitor and log performance of cooling compressors, oil levels, condensers, glycol supply, water filtration systems, and compressed‑air equipment.
• Assist with daily start‑up, shut‑down, pre‑production trial runs and size changes on production lines.
• Implement and oversee the preventative maintenance programme, including emergency repairs on day and night shifts.
• Maintain the maintenance store, tools, and ensure proper housekeeping.

Required profile

• Experience in mechanical maintenance within a production or food‑processing environment.
• Familiarity with quality, food safety, health, safety and environmental standards (GMP, HACCP, etc.).
• Ability to work day and night shifts and communicate effectively with maintenance, production and quality teams.
• Commitment to personal hygiene, contamination control and incident reporting.

Required skills

• Mechanical repair and component replacement.
• Electrical troubleshooting.
• Preventative maintenance planning and execution.
• Lubrication and equipment monitoring (compressors, cooling systems, water filtration, air dryers).
• Record‑keeping of operating temperatures, run hours and maintenance activities.
• Knowledge of GMP, food safety and health‑safety regulations.
