Manager - Credit Risk (Regulatory & Financial Risk)

About the role

Deloitte's Regulatory & Financial Risk (RFR) practice advises financial services providers and corporate treasury operations across Africa. The Credit Risk team sits within RFR and supports clients on credit, market and treasury risks, valuations, hedge accounting and financial technology, as well as regulatory issues such as IFRS 9, 13, 17 and Basel. This manager role supports the FS Advisory Credit Risk Team in delivering services to and at client premises on delegated engagements and projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and calibrate credit risk models
• Carry out model validation, monitoring and testing
• Benchmark credit metrics against peers in the market
• Derive portfolio credit analytics
• Review client deliverables for quality, accuracy and completeness
• Communicate project challenges and outcomes with clients and team members
• Draft project reports and share knowledge and skills with colleagues

Required profile

• BSc degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative, Financial Engineering or Actuarial Science
• 5 to 8 years of credit experience at a bank or consultancy; retail credit risk experience preferred
• Experience building and developing IFRS 9 models
• Knowledge of financial services and market regulations, including Regulation 23, IAS 39 and IFRS 9 (intermediate level)
• Notable experience providing strategic insights to partners, project management experience and demonstrated leadership skills

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of PD, EAD, LGD, Basel II and IAS 39
• Programming and coding skills in SAS, VBA, Matlab, R and Python
• Excellent written and verbal communication, report writing and presentation skills
• Ability to interpret, communicate and implement strategy, and to execute complex projects within timeframes and cost
