Maintenance Technician

About the role

Join a globally recognised logistics leader and ensure the continuous operation of critical refrigeration, electrical and mechanical systems in a cold‑storage facility handling fruit exports. You will perform both preventative and corrective maintenance to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily checks and inspections of refrigeration units, electrical systems, mobile racking, and overall facility infrastructure.
• Maintain refrigeration equipment including compressors, condensers, evaporators and cooling tunnels.
• Calibrate temperature probes to meet operational standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical faults on conveyors, forklifts and cooling systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing and general plant infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, ISO 9001 and food‑safety regulations.
• Keep accurate maintenance records and report major faults to the Maintenance Manager.
• Assist with emergency breakdown repairs to minimise downtime.
• Support planning and execution of major equipment overhauls and facility upgrades.
• Monitor stock levels of spare parts and maintenance supplies.

Required profile

• Diploma or trade certification in CO₂ refrigeration systems.
• SAQCC gas handling licence (Cat. A) for CO₂ or a Red Seal electrical trade certification.
• 2–5 years of hands‑on experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in cold‑storage or similar environments.
