Maintenance Supervisor – FMCG (Port Elizabeth)

About the role

Join a fast‑moving FMCG manufacturing plant in Port Elizabeth as a Maintenance Supervisor. You will lead a team of artisans and technicians to keep high‑speed production lines running, ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventative and reactive maintenance to ensure equipment uptime.
• Support implementation of planned maintenance schedules and TPM initiatives.
• Monitor equipment performance, report downtime and recurring issues.
• Assist with root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure availability of critical spares and assist with stock control.
• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of artisans and technicians.
• Provide hands‑on technical support during breakdowns.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and company policies.
• Maintain maintenance records and report on KPIs.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency.
• Coordinate with production teams to minimise downtime.
• Supervise on‑site contractors where required.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• Trade‑tested Millwright or Electrician.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a maintenance environment within FMCG manufacturing.
• Experience on high‑speed production lines and automated systems.
• Exposure to PLCs, packaging equipment and utilities.
• Sound knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office.
• Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
• Residence in Port Elizabeth/Uitenhage area.
• Availability to work every second weekend and perform standby duties.
