Maintenance Manager

About the role

Dynamic Outlook Pty Ltd, an established manufacturing company in Prospecton, is looking for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance function across its Durban facility. The role focuses on maximising equipment uptime, overseeing preventive and reactive maintenance, and driving continuous improvement in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and supervise all preventative and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Ensure machinery, plant equipment and utilities operate safely and efficiently.
• Lead, mentor and discipline the maintenance team to meet departmental objectives.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
• Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor maintenance costs and control departmental budgets.
• Schedule maintenance with production to minimise disruption.
• Maintain compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Keep accurate maintenance records, service reports and equipment histories.
• Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities and implement engineering solutions.
• Maintain adequate stock of critical spare parts and consumables.
• Participate in capital projects, installations, upgrades and commissioning of new equipment.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching for maintenance staff.

Required profile

• Qualified in a recognised technical trade such as Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Artisan, Hydraulic Technician or Boilermaker.
• 5–8 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience managing a maintenance team.
• Strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge.
• Familiarity with preventative maintenance systems and health & safety legislation.
• Computer literacy with MS Office and maintenance management systems.
• Valid driver’s licence.
