Mine Manager - Coal

About the role

An established coal mining operation in Durban is seeking an experienced Mine Manager to lead safe, efficient and profitable mining activities. The role combines strategic planning with hands‑on operational leadership to meet production, quality and cost targets while ensuring strict compliance with safety legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of mining operations to achieve agreed coal production, quality and cost objectives.
• Develop and execute short‑, medium‑ and long‑term mining plans and monitor performance.
• Ensure full compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act and other mining legislation.
• Manage budgets, capital expenditure, and cost control while identifying operational risks.
• Lead, mentor and develop the mining management team and maintain positive employee relations.

Required profile

• Relevant Mining Engineering qualification.
• Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) – Mines & Works (essential).
• Extensive experience in coal mining and senior mine‑manager roles.
• Strong knowledge of MHSA legislation and mining‑industry best practices.
• Proven ability to manage large multidisciplinary teams and contractors.

What we offer
