Maintenance Artisan – Bakery Machinery

About the role

RCL Foods is seeking a motivated Maintenance Artisan to join its baking business unit in Durban. You will be responsible for keeping bakery machinery running smoothly through planned preventive work and rapid response to breakdowns.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily equipment checks, record faults and report to the Maintenance Manager.
• Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on bakery machinery, adhering to health, safety and food‑safety standards.
• Execute planned preventive maintenance tasks within scheduled timeframes.
• Respond immediately to breakdowns, diagnose root causes and carry out repairs.
• Delegate tasks to maintenance assistants and ensure completion.
• Maintain accurate job cards, tool inventories and stocktake reports.
• Participate in project planning, ordering spares and ensuring projects finish on time and within budget.

Required profile

• Trade‑tested Artisan with 3‑5 years of mechanical/electrical maintenance experience.
• Experience in a bakery or food‑production environment is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and follow procedures.
• Good numeracy and fluent English communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence; Wireman’s License is optional.
