Legal Advisor – Financial Services

About the role

Momentum is looking for a Legal Advisor to deliver financial planning and technical support for risk, investment and fiduciary solutions across individual and business markets. The role combines legal expertise with financial services knowledge to help clients achieve wealth creation and preservation.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, analyse and implement estate, business, tax, investment and retirement planning solutions for clients and financial advisers.
• Provide ongoing support to financial advisers, ensuring their needs are met and clients remain the focus of all engagements.
• Contribute to the growth and retention of risk and fiduciary services, including wills, trusts and estates.
• Train and develop advisers, offering legal and technical guidance to expand their business.
• Prepare and maintain FAIS compliance documentation such as Letters of Introduction and Records of Advice.
• Participate in knowledge‑sharing activities and contribute to internal publications.

Required profile

• Relevant Law degree (essential).
• Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning (essential).
• FAIS compliance – RE1 and RE5 certification.
• Minimum 5 years of business‑related experience, including 3‑5 years in financial services corporate environments.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
• Willingness to travel between provinces.
