Lead Security Architect

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Security Architect to shape the cyber‑security strategy of a leading African bank. The role will drive the design and delivery of complex, business‑aligned security solutions across the organisation’s technology estate.

Key responsibilities

• Define and deliver scalable, testable security solution blueprints that align with the bank’s strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with delivery and development teams to analyse requirements, frame complex business problems and translate them into architectural designs.
• Lead design‑thinking workshops, negotiate with diverse stakeholders and ensure solutions meet commercial and regulatory expectations.
• Create end‑to‑end roadmaps covering ideation, implementation, product launch and commercialisation.
• Develop feasibility studies and business cases for proposed security initiatives.
• Select appropriate tools and technologies, applying modern software design practices such as domain‑driven design, loosely coupled integration and micro‑services.
• Provide “one‑stop” accountability for architectural decisions and embed within delivery teams to guarantee successful implementation.
• Partner with project and programme managers to align solution roadmaps with organisational priorities.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of organisational strategy and ability to translate it into technical solutions.
• Excellent analytical and creative problem‑solving capabilities.
• Proven negotiation skills and experience managing divergent stakeholder opinions.
• Solid engineering background with deep knowledge of modern software architecture principles.
• Ability to research, evaluate and pivot to better technologies when required.
