Junior Service Technician – Rotating Equipment

About the role

Chart Industries (Howden) is seeking a Junior Service Technician to support field service activities on a range of compressors, blowers and turbines at its Sasolburg site. The role involves diagnosing, repairing and maintaining rotating equipment while ensuring customer satisfaction and safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret P&ID diagrams, technical drawings and manuals for compressors, turbines and blowers.
• Perform service, repair and preventative maintenance on multi‑brand rotating equipment.
• Navigate compressor controllers to collect data and assist troubleshooting.
• Install new equipment on construction sites and retrofit projects.
• Conduct statutory and insurance examinations on rotating machinery.
• Produce detailed service reports and maintain accurate documentation.
• Maintain health and safety standards on all sites.
• Provide laser alignment of equipment and support workshop associates as needed.

Required profile

• Trade test certificate in Fitting or National Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years experience with rotating equipment.
• Strong analytical ability to solve mechanical and electrical problems.
• Medically fit and familiar with job‑site safety requirements.
• Valid passport, driver’s licence and overhead crane licence.
