Junior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Our client, a well‑established project management and engineering consulting firm in Centurion, is looking for a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer. The role offers early‑career engineers exposure to multidisciplinary EPCM and mining projects, supporting design through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing and developing mechanical engineering solutions for various projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications and related documentation.
• Produce and review mechanical drawings using CAD software.
• Support senior engineers throughout the project lifecycle, from planning to commissioning.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications, quality and safety standards.
• Assist with equipment selection and mechanical system design.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers and internal project teams.
• Support procurement activities, technical evaluations and project scheduling.
• Identify engineering risks and propose practical technical solutions.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and project records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (BEng/BSc) in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 3 years of post‑graduate experience in construction, EPCM, engineering consulting or mining environments.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor (or similar CAD software).
