Mechanical Building Services Consulting Engineer

About the role

Our client, a well‑established mechanical and electrical consulting practice, is looking for a Mechanical Building Services Consulting Engineer to join their Cape Town team. This position offers a junior‑to‑mid‑level engineer the chance to develop a consulting career across a varied portfolio of commercial and public‑sector projects.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design, audit, cost and specify mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, fire protection and wet services.
• Prepare tender documentation and manage the tender process for mechanical systems.
• Provide project‑management support throughout the full project lifecycle.
• Work on diverse building types such as offices, retail centres, hospitals, hotels, gyms, data centres and other commercial or public buildings.
• Liaise with architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors and clients as required.

Required profile

• B Eng (Mech), BSc Eng (Mech) or B Tech Eng (Mech) qualification.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability with an interest in building‑services design.
• Prior exposure to consulting engineering is preferred but not essential.
