Civil Engineer / Civil Engineering Technologist (Municipal Infrastructure)

About the role

AFI Consult is seeking a Professional Engineer or Technologist to lead the design of municipal civil infrastructure projects in Centurion, Gauteng. You will oversee projects from feasibility studies through construction administration, acting as the record‑engineer and mentor to junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for municipal and building civils, bulk water and sewer systems, urban and rural roads, stormwater drainage, and water/wastewater treatment facilities.
• Sign off designs and drawings as the Professional Engineer/Technologist of record.
• Manage client relationships and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Guide design engineers, technicians, and candidate engineers toward ECSA registration.
• Travel to project sites as required.

Required profile

• Current, good‑standing registration with ECSA as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng (mandatory).
• BEng/BSc (Eng)/BTech in Civil Engineering from an ECSA‑accredited institution.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in senior design or technical leadership roles.
• Proven track record delivering municipal civil infrastructure projects from concept to close‑out.
• Comfortable working in a small‑firm, hands‑on environment and committed to developing junior engineers.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
