Junior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing engineering business on a construction site in Vereeniging. The role offers a balanced split between hands‑on construction exposure and engineering/project support, providing broad experience in industrial plant projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with site construction coordination, monitoring progress, quality and safety compliance.
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers and sub‑consultants and support construction planning and reporting.
• Support concept and detailed engineering activities, including preparation and review of technical documentation and drawings.
• Coordinate information between engineering disciplines and sub‑consultants.
• Participate in project costing, procurement, scheduling and technical problem‑solving.
• Attend site inspections, progress meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary engineering functions.

Required profile

• BEng / BTech / National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 0–3 years of relevant experience or recent graduate.
• Strong interest in industrial plants, construction and project engineering.
• Willingness to work on a construction site environment.
• Good communication, organisational skills and proactive attitude.
• Valid driver’s licence is advantageous.
